About Gail Philipp

I was born in Lancashire and moved to London in my twenties.
I have always enjoyed art and started sculpting when my children were very young. I then took a long break to help my husband build up a successful publishing business. When we sold the company in 2008, I retired from my role as Finance and HR Director and decided to return to the world of art.
I took up stone carving again and began lessons in drawing and painting - skills which I had never been able to master in the past.
After that I spent two years studying part-time on an art foundation course at my local college which gave me the experience
of working in a variety of disciplines including drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, glass, printmaking and calligraphy.
Having completed this course, I realised that the two subjects I enjoyed the most were sculpture and fused glass.
I now have my own studio at home in North London where I am busy creating fused glass bowls and decorative items like
the ones you can see on this website. I am also continuing with my favourite form of sculpture which is stone carving and
recently started silk painting which is another enjoyable and rewarding form of art.
